WOW! What a AWESOME night!!!!!! I dont think i have ever seen such calm, peaceful gt/pro gt night!!! its normally caohs and disaster with cars breaking and battens flying and guys screaming but not last night it was all calm, no breaks and we could actually dice and have some good battles!!! All thanks to our precious new track!!!!

Big thanks to all who could make it and big thanks for the committe for setup up all equipment and packing away. Hopefully we can sort out the pc problem for the future so we can start on time.

sam and hamish were spannering and when they connected all the equipment together at 9 the timing equipment didnt want to pick up.

i suggest that we convert the batten trailer into race control with everthing already setup and all the equipment nicely packed and protected so that it doesnt get damaged being carted up and down and packed and unpacked, and it will save more time in setting up....

I fully agree, that equipment is expensive to replace and the club should be looking after it with huge care.

Use the trailer, put some sort of padding in it, connect everything up, then all you do is connect to power on the night, the top of the trailer can become the table. It makes sense.

So racing only started after 9......???

scratch scratch
Let me understand this correctly......inside our "extended" trailer we put in foam padding or whateva, secure all the equipment in place including wiring etc, then we just "plug" the trailer in when we arrive? Then how do we put the stuff on the lid is what's confusing me??

1. Who is going to cart "race control" around?
2. Everything already fits into a box which is 1/4 the size and easy to transport around.
3. The equipment is looked after correctly.
4. I think it's the pc because of it's age that keeps losing the decoder or port, not rough handling.

One suggestion I do have though to save the expensive loop cables, is to put the loop in the ground permanantly with 2 core flex, and to use co-ax cable to the decoder. This is what we did in PE as the system came without cables and it works perfect, that way we can pack away the expensive cables and not worry about them getting kinked as they get tramped on every race nite. If you want I can speak to Christo to find out how they made up the little box for the signal which I'm sure our resident electronics guru(Riaan) can sort out for us.

As for starting late, mmmmmm, it was a bit with all the spannering going on, but the last race finished at about 10:45 if I'm not mistaken. What did finish late was myself and Matt packing the equipment away, we left at about midnight, so if anybody should be complaining..................

Enough technical speak for now!!!!!

Last nite was a total jol!!!!! If I didn't clip that rope on the first corner staying wide of Nev there would definately have been a different result for sure!!!! That TA of mine is soooo super sweet at the moment and with a brushless in it oh what a pleasure!!!! I can't wait for the next GT nite!!!!!!!!! Wait, next week is FWD!!!!! Woooooooohoooooooooooo!!!!! Evil or Very Mad Oh nooit, I have to change the damn motor again....... Sad Sad Sad Sad ...........never fear when spanner man is near!!!!!! That 17.5 will do awesome in the superior SABRE, will show those silvercans(ahem FF's) a thing or two!!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Jeffrey Stein......

It's all about rollout at the end of the day not chassis choice, and at this point in time we're still experimenting with different motors, rollouts, tyres, etc etc. I am just lucky to be able to squeeze the extra into it at the moment. On a national level in this class everybody runs whatever chassis they want to, be it tamiya, top, serpent, whateva the case might be, BUT, every chassis is limited to what gearing they can run so that they are ALL running the same rollout, same tyre combo, same motor & esc combo. The same sort of scenario as we had with our one make series. And by implimenting (after testing) chassis specific/motor & esc combo's gearing restrictions, we'll all be on the same playing field no matter what equipment we're using. bounce bounce
