TT Stock/Club Stock race 3 race report

Post  driver 101 on Wed 9 Mar - 15:15

Wow, Wow, Wow, was last night competitive or what?

TRCCC had their third round of their popular Stock classes last night; we had a good field of very quick drivers that entered. The night started off with the regular heat races, 9 TT drivers took the track in one heat, and this provided close battles with drivers having to be fully alert on how to keep their race clean. In Club Stock we had 12 drivers split into 2 heats of six, this also was so close on track that we all knew the finals were going to be really good.

The track design remained the same, this is also getting interesting because drivers are becoming familiar with the track and that’s just adding to how close the racing has become. It’s also good to see how the different classes compare in terms of lap times.

TT Final

With 9 cars on track in true TRCCC style we all knew that anyone could win this race. It began with Ty taking an early lead and been pushed hard by Scoobs, Nev and Kevin. All other drivers got away with a bit of bumping and barging, after a few laps the race settled and a huge dice developed between the front runners. As the leaders started to lap a few guys, Ty lost out and the lead went to Scoobs who opened a gap. Hamish, Kevin and John were all again finding themselves fighting for position. Donny and Shen were also having their own race at the back. Brett had bad luck with a transponder and only recorded 8 laps. Out in front Scoobs was been pressured by Ty, with 25 seconds remaining they were together on track and the race for the line hotted up. At the last turn Scoobs went wide around a backmarker and Ty took the inside, allowing him to race to the line ahead and clinch the win. Only 0.57s separated them. Neville came home in third on the same lap, 8 seconds behind. It was a fantastic race and well done to everyone.

B Final Club Stock

Sam started on pole and immediately opened a gap on the rest of the field. John and Hamish were pushing hard to catch. Leslie and Shen were driving well; Shen was up to third at one stage. Donny was trying to stay on the pace and having fun as usual. As the race continued, Sam made a few errors and that allowed Hamish to grab the lead and check out. Sam was then challenged by John; he got past and settled for second. Hamish drove well and kept a good rhythm to take the win.

1 – Hamish – 30 laps – F/L – 11.480 – A/L – 12.406
2 – Johny – 28 laps – F/L – 11.510 – A/L – 12.971
3 – Dion – 28 laps – F/L – 11.510 – A/L – 13.009
4 – Shen – 27 laps – F/L – 11.640 – A/L – 13.369
5 – Leslie – 27 laps – F/L – 12.000 – A/L – 13.410
6 – Donny – 25 laps – F/L – 12.760 – A/L – 14.586

A Final Club Stock

Phil started up front and had a good start, on the second lap he made a slight mistake and that allowed Ty to get through. Kevin had a tuff time from Ty and the field charging through in a hurry. Neville and Steve were super quick and were making small mistakes while been involved in a huge dice. Unfortunately for the both of them, their cars broke and they couldn’t finish. Kevin kept it cool as usual and drove home in fourth. Phil pressured Ty till the end but failed to get close enough to mount a move for the lead. Well done drivers, it was another epic race.

1 – Ty – 30 laps – F/L – 11.620 – A/L – 12.124
2 – Phil – 30 laps – F/L – 11.400 – A/L – 12.241
3 – Scooby – 29 laps – F/L – 11.610 – A/L – 12.408
4 – Kevin – 29 laps – F/L – 11.600 – A/L – 12.816
5 – Neville – 17 laps – F/L – 11.600 – A/L – 12.741
6 – Steve – 11 laps – F/L – 11.480 – A/L – 12.809

Driver of the night for both classes went undecided as the whole field of drivers drove well, very difficult to choose.

Thanks for a great evening again at TRCCC, let’s look forward to the next one.
