How can we squeeze in a FF03 class only for the second season of this year?

Post  skillz on Fri 13 Apr - 10:18

Howzit Guys!

Is their no way we can squeeze this class in? Maybe on a GT/Pro GT night? Then it will be one heat pro gt, 2 heats GT and 1 heat FF03. So only 4 heats for the night. I really do think we should consider doing this class because it has potential to be a very awesome class and other clubs who have introduced are have so much fun and getting such good support with this class.

I know I have mentioned this on numerous occasions but PLEASE reconsider this again?

I agree, we need to run these chassis in its own class, however, I think we need to make room. We cant include it, I mean we only start these days well after 8pm. Last night we only got the first heat under way at 8:45pm. It too hectic on the night.

There has already been a few complaints about the late finish and I fear we may lose members.

I say: Dump Pro GT

From my side I don't really care about ProGT BUT it will be unfair to dump the class because our newer members have spent lots of money on this class and they are enjoying it.

I would really like to hear what the other club members think about this topic:

Will you guys be interested and support a FF03 only class?

How do you guys feel about dumping the proGT class?

Will you guys be happy then using ur progt cars just in club stock and gt?

Please give us ur input guys?

You guys heard my suggestion last nite, but I'll aire it here for all to read. I say drop F1, those cars aren't suited to our conditions, everyone sukkels, you can't go flattaps, same goes for pro gt, but more money has been spent on pro gt than in F1, except for Nev who's got 4 F1's!!! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes The other option for F1 is to turn them into rwd gt cars with 1:10 tyres and lmp bodies, like this......

I raced this car against 4wd super stock cars and kept up with them once I got the hang of rwd and a smooth throttle finger.

Oh, and I used this body too with the 103....

About that SamJr, I only have 2 F1's left and I'm really thinking of now selling the Formula Ten. I have other interests and I don't need 2 F1's. I can get ny 104 to work at TRCCC. Please send me Tinus's email address. I think I might let it go soon. Is he coming down for Coastal Cup?

F1.....Pro GT.....I dont mind, i just think one needs to drop in order to include FF03.

We will also have to give ample time for what ever change we do

It would be nice to hear from the other guys what they think? ...

And if we start racing earlier? No exceptions say on gt/pro gt night, then we add a heat of ff03 which will make it 4 heats. No stopping the clock and racing starts 7:30, 8 the latest...?

Ya, I know. We not a HARDCORE "by the book" club, which is cool. What i suggest, since their is such a interest and so much talk for so long...why dont we for the second season of this year, introduce a "FF03" on a gt\proGT or a F1\Porsche cup night...then we take it from there...we start on time and we see how the interest goes... if the interest picks up to a extent that we sitting with 2 heats FF03 then we will have to make another plan (e.g. can a class or add a 5th week of racing)... If it doesnt work then we just can the FF03 class...just a suggestion. ?

Is this class going to be limited to FF03 only? Or are we going to allow the Sabre, S411ff, etc?

On our type of tracks, no chassi will have an advantage so I don't see why not allow it. I would not advice it cause Tamyia FF03 is the "more affordable one" and the others are more expensive. But, ya, I'm cool with ANY front wheel drive touring car chassi.

What do the other guys think?

This place is even deader than OneTen!? I thought we were supposed to be communicating with each other but its only a 3 man discussion lately, with a few chirps from Alonso who is on a short Leash...

Post  driver 101 on Tue 17 Apr - 10:41

We will have to discuss with members, clearly there's no communication here.

There's actually three classes we need to decide on future plans.

Pro GT - Do we continue, does TRCCC do these combos justice, the racing is always chaotic with pricey cars.
F1 - The racing is very cautious, however its support always seems to be there.
Pro Mini - Very inconsistent support, we max out on 4 entries often.

The above classes cost the club on medals and valuable race time where we could be having more races in the calendar for more popular classes, like Stocks.

I say we need to re-look at the above classes and cancell at least one or maybe even two.

I don't think we should stop any class because they are all very well supported! And it is unfair to the newer members. We older members forget how it was when we first started and the RC BUG bites then its over and all u want to do is Race Race Race and before you look again you racing in all the classes.

Back to my original question: Is there no way we can "squeeze" a FF03 class into our current calender? If not, then that's ok. I just thought since other clubs are having success then so can we. But if we don't have space then that's fine. Was just asking? Very Happy

I have something else to add:

We are probably one of the only clubs in the country to run a "4wd" mini class. Its now our 4th season(4years) that it has been running.

Our F1 and 13.5 class has also been up and running for the same time. It is very rare that u will find these kind of classes doing this well in our country.

So I don't think we should stop what is working. With all classes you will get ur quiet races but hey it happens.

Re: How can we squeeze in a FF03 class only for the second season of this year?

Post  driver 101 on Tue 17 Apr - 12:42

Please don’t feel I am wanting a class to be dropped, I mean as you know skillz, we have always wanted TRCCC to provide a huge variety of options for members in terms of classes. Every time a new suggestion comes in on chassis’s or rules, we always seem to find a way. However, we are starting to max out now, on time and classes. The FFO3 sounds awesome and I am sure once we start, like in any other new class, the following will happen.

It’s just we have to, from the clubs point of view, look and see, measure the popularity / support of a class, and see if it’s really viable to continue. Pro Mini gets an average of 4 drivers per race, now that slot could be filled with extra Stocks, PSC, GT events that will pull in 10 - 15 entries.

The thing is, do we just continue a class because we just hope on the possibility that more will join, and 2 years later we still sit with the same limited number of entries. Or do we change, get more race time in for more of the popular events, have more opportunities for more newer classes.

Running more heats in the night, for me is nuts, we just don’t have the discipline form members to be there earlier enough for the night to begin. It’s not like Blue Route days anymore. We used to be racing by 8 sharp, running 3 heats per class in a night, with no stoppages. Now we down to 2 / 3 on a night that begins at 9 and finishes after 11.

Re: How can we squeeze in a FF03 class only for the second season of this year?

Post  Quickie on Tue 17 Apr - 18:34

Howzit Guys

Here's my 5 bop:

- F1 and PC on the same night works
Those racing both don't have to rush and those doing either can concentrate on their race and there's plenty marshals

- Stocks and Mini nights are always well supported, so no point changing it

- GT and Pro GT is often lonely
GT times are often faster than Pro GT

Yes, a lot of us have spent a lot of $ on our Pro GT cars and a few of us often run both, but what if we...

1. Combine the Pro GT and GT and have a FF03 class
2. Combine GT or Pro GT with FF03 (depending on lap times)

Personally i prefer combining it with a class before we make it a class on its own,
I think it will start off slow and if we allow it combined with GT or Pro GT those who have the FF can use it and members can see the cars performance at TRCCC and have more info. on whether they want to fork out or not,
Then if there are like 5 or more it will be worth making a FF class, maybe then drop Pro GT and put the 13.5 in the FF?

I should have mine in about a month, if you guys will allow it I don't mind fitting the Sakuras beast into it and test it in Pro GT
I'm looking for a chassis that can handle that motors boost and i think the FF will Idea

Good call...and great feed back.

FFO3's are already allowed in GT, so when skillz gets his, I get mine and Quickie also gets one, Arshad can run his FFO2, maybe for season 2 we all run them and see how it goes.

Then 2013 we have an FFO3 one make brushless class...... bounce

Cool! I'm up for the challenge. When I get mine it will be going into gt for sure.

If and when the time comes for FF03 to be in a class of its own then I think we must go same as Tamiya Cup Rules in terms of motor. Which is Tamiya 14t brushless system or just the 540 johnson motor. That way we can use what we have at TRCCC, PRCCC and Tamiya Cup.
