Mini Race 4 race report

TRCCC’s Warehouse Warriors

TRCCC’s determination for RC racing can be compared to a caged pit bull that cannot wait to be set lose, raging with adrenaline needing its next fix. The club has had to regroup after some difficult news that we had to leave our current venue without any prior notice. This left the die-hard members scratching their heads at what the next planned move would be. A lot of electronic mails were set with some pleading and begging for a traditional car park that would still hold TRCCC’s roots intact. However with today’s crime stats along with paranoid mall management teams, all requests were promptly denied. So what now, this left us with an ill feeling of withdraw symptoms, something similar to a rehab patient tackling the dreaded first two weeks in. The answer for our next race came in the form of: code name Matt Attack.

Matt with his ever laid back attitude calmly announced that we could group up in a warehouse near his work. This brought back a few rusty smiles with a glimmer of hope that we could calm this much needed fix. Thanks to Matt and his pole dancing land lady that stays far from his newly wedded wife, we managed to fit in the postponed Mini Race 4.

On arrival we were all super impressed with the space, lighting and a driver stand that made you feel like you were on top of the world. So dust was settled then I hear you ask, well not quite, the dust was actually our only problem. But in true TRCCC style, we turned a problem into some much need fun. The slippery surface added much needed stress relief, with a lot of laughs; we were treated to wheel spinning minis, overheating their gears looking for traction. The 2wd minis were locking up under braking and waiting for the dreaded under steer to eventually give up to provide a small amount of turn in. On the other hand, the 4wd minis were battling with tail whipping over steer that would make any seasoned drifter smile with envy.
We hooked up the equipment and settled in for a good nights racing, the heats went well, and the track looked to be getting better as the race line cleaned up.

B Final 2wd

Newly crowned Coastal Cup TT champion Riaan, started at the back of the grid after some slow heat runs. He managed to sort out his problems to put in another brilliant performance, working his way through the field to a classic win. Johnno was super impressive, having very limited track time, he started on pole and drove like a champ, holding the lead for a number of laps. Naasif was again on form, adding a good second place to a collection of great results. Matt drove well, having great on track dices with mate Johnno. Shafiek who is wanting to sell his car, drove really well, hopefully lighting the flame that would twist his mind into considering to keep it. Sam was baffled from the start, having no turn in and no traction, he battled on and never gave up, looking to try and improve every lap, unfortunately he didn’t get the result he was hoping for, but he will be back after he puts a little more spanner time in.

Results:
1-Riaan-22-12.650-13.670
2-Naasif-21-12.700-15.163
3-Matt-20-13.850-15.130
4-Johnno-19-13.360-16.061
5-Shafiek-18-14.270-17.488
6-Sam-17-13.540-18.245

A Final 2wd

Boys and Girls, we have a new class winner, it’s been a long time coming, with some awesome drives in the past, Abdul brought his A game to the party. He managed a fantastic drive to outclass some TRCCC veterans for a solid win. Following close on his heels is another up and coming TRCCC super star, Arshad, he managed to race to the line in second. These two guys drove away from the competition and have now cemented their status and club winners, well driven to both of you. Hamish had good speed, he lead for a while and then tried hard to hold onto third, with Myself driving like a blind bat on substance abuse, tried to catch up but failed with epic proportions. Nev also seemed to have a tough night, with no grip and struggling for a good rhythm, he managed a very rare fifth place. Faiz drove well to keep up in the A final, grabbing a solid sixth place.

1-Abdul-23-12.860-13.607
2-Arshad-22-12.940-13.880
3-Hamish-22-12.860-14.110
4-Ty-21-13.180-14.407
5-Nev-20-12.570-15.102
6-Faeez-19-13.930-16.578

4wd Final

Oh this looked like a lot of fun, 4wd on a slippery surface just adds to the excitement. Nev being the only front wheel drive drove well in the heats, but as the night went on the 4wd guys became more confident. Hamish drove fast and managed to lead for most of the race, unfortunately running wide and off the race line gave up huge time and promoted Arshad to take it from there. He stamped his ownership on the race and again drove like a star, taking the win. Abdul had a great car set up, he also drove well, but a few mistakes lead him to fourth. Nev stuck it out to take third. Matt driving a car that swops ends in a before you even know that it did, managed well and was easy on the throttle to keep it balanced. Faiz was charging at the back having fun and still managing a good lap time.

1-Arshad-23-12.280-13.226
2-Hamish-23-12.030-13.251
3-Nev-22-13.210-14.155
4-Abdul-21-12.400-14.751
5-Matt-18-13.800-17.339
6-Faiz-13-13.690-23.309

The racing and vibe last night was again fantastic, our club seems to have a lot of heart which will drive us forward into the next stage. Our discussion at the end proves this. We will look to making Protea work, and hopefully for the longevity of the club it will be the right move.

Thanks again to all of you for the support, lets keep racing TRCCC style.
